Our Itinerary

  • Till 8 March: Preparing (Australia)
  • 8 March - 2 April: Japan (Tokyo)
  • 3 April - 25 April: Greece (Santorini, Athens)
  • 25 April - 1 May: France (Paris)
  • 1 May - 3 June: USA (West Coast)
  • June 5 Onwards: Recovery!

10/3 - Exploring Further

Saturday was a day for getting basic supplies and settled in. So it was off down the local suppermarket - which was an adventure in itself for the kids - with all the exotic packaging and items. Returning home we had lunch before another walk into Kichijoji for the kids to do some minor shopping (they seem extemely keen to spend the Yen they have).
On the way in we passed thel local Jinja (Shinto shrine) and went onto the grounds for the kids to have a look. Zoe was much taken with its beauty, as she is with all things Japanese (she is really blossoming on this trip and we are both reaally proud of the kids). It happens that we had visited this shrine several times while living here, and indeed it was the location from which we had carried the Omikoshi (a portable shrine carried on the shoulders). Lo and behold we found the Omikoshi behind locked glass doors and so were able to point it out to the kids.

After that it was some further shopping then home to cook - spag bog for the kids, and green thai curry for Mari, Maria, and I.

Hi Guys, it's great to see you are having a great time in Japan. I don't know where you are finding the time to be able to write such long logs about your days! All day last thursday, the kids kept asking when do you think the Barlow's would be in Japan, now I will have to show then this site tommorrow and they will be able to see from the photos just how long the plane trip was.
Have lots of fun exploring all your old haunts. All the best the Semmler Family

Today is Mrs Flynn's last day as she is going on maternity leave. So it will be sad to say good bye, but she will be back in 7 months. Everyone in 3/4J hives you a big hug!

Hi Semmlers and Shannon. We're really glad you're finding the blog interesting and will try to keep it as up to date as possible. As Belinda has said - it does take quite a bit of time to keep the blog. I don't know if we will be able to keep up this level of information - at the moment I'm writing entries on the Jasjar (PDA) and uploading them (and photos) when we visit Mari.

Grant is very happy to hear the news that 3/4J says hi...unfortunately he is watching Cartoon Network at the moment ... and all higher mental abilities (such as being able to think) seem to have vanished. However he does say that he misses everyone a lot.
